This video was released by the American Civil Liberties Union (the ACLU) back in 2006 – sixteen years ago – to increase awareness on how your personal information can be collected, harmonized, marketed, and in some cases used against you.
We’ve come a long way since 2006: Consider everything that’s connected to the internet (your computer, cellphone, car, household appliances, heck, even your toilet paper dispenser), the number of surveillance cameras almost everywhere you go (except for inside bathrooms and bedrooms…maybe), and the amount of information people put out there on social media (new boo? pet got a new doo? moved to Timbuktu? Good for you!).
Here’s just a sample of the information being collected on you every day:
Now consider a Federal Government, and in particular one political party, who wants to control your health, wealth, kids, freedoms, and social standing. And, as time goes on the collection and analysis of your personal data, along with the Government’s involvement, will only increase.
Compared to what’s possible today that 2006 video is like a kindergarten finger painting compared to Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.
