FYI:
- The funding bill (H.R 2617 – “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023’’ (PDF)) gives $1,563,143,000 to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for “border management requirements”, but they cannot use the money to hire permanent Federal Employees or to maintain or improve protection of America’s borders: They can only use it to process anyone who crosses the border.
-
That same bill gives $410,000,000 to the countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman to improve the security of their borders.
- The $1,700,000,000,000 Omnibus Budget Bill is 4,155 pages long and contains approx. $9.8 Billion in earmarks: $4 Billion for Republicans and $5.4 Billion for Democrats.
