It seems Republican Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader of the US Senate, has demonstrated once again he knows his place: Being proxy for the Democrat Party (also known as “Republican in Name Only”, or RINO).
“There is no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of [January 6, 2021]. A mob was assaulting the Capitol in his name. These criminals were carrying his banners, hanging his flags and screaming their loyalty to him. If President Trump were still in office I would have carefully considered whether the House managers proved their specific charge.”
- Republican Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, February 14, 2021
Interpretation: Mitch McConnell implicitly supported the House impeachment proceedings against Donald J. Trump or else there would be nothing for him to “carefully consider” in the Senate.
“…McConnell has no credibility on China because of his family’s substantial Chinese business holdings. He does nothing on this tremendous economic and military threat. Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again. He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country.”
- President Donald J. Trump, letter to Mitch McConnell, February 16, 2021
Did you know? Mitch McConnell is married to Elaine Cho, who allegedly violated ethics rules by using her government job and taxpayer money to help her family-run shipping firm do business with and in China.
“I said two years ago, when we had not one but two impeachments [of Republican Donald J. Trump], that once we go down this path it incentivizes the other side to do the same thing. Impeachment ought to be rare, this is not good for the country.”
- Republican Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, August 6th, 2023
Interpretation: McConnell’s desire to preserve our Government by taking the moral high ground and practicing government “by the book” is admirable: He doesn’t support the Biblical notion of “an eye for an eye” or its’ modern, less violent equivalent “Turnabout is fair play”.
Unfortunately, by supporting the impeachment of Donald J. Trump but not Joe Biden Mitch McConnell – a US Senator for 48 years – has shown he isn’t Right, he’s a RINO. It’s no secret the Democrat Party would any means necessary to win because, as their mentor and radical leftist Saul Alinsky wrote
“The most unethical of all means is the non-use of any means.” and the “morality of means depends on whether the means is being deployed at the time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.”
Such an opponent is a big problem, a problem even our first Republican President Abraham Lincoln recognized back in 1838:
“At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
- Abraham Lincoln, “Lyceum Address“, Springfield, Illinois, Jan. 27, 1838
Personally, rather than allowing the Democrats – especially their radical Left faction – to continue eroding the High Ground on which Conservatives stand (and, RINOs purport to stand on), why learn a lesson from Sun Tzu:
“The opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.”
- Sun Tzu,”Art of War“, written 5th Century B.C., Chapter 4
Simply apply the same criteria, standards, process, and diligence used by Democrats and their allies to impeach President Trump twice: The Democrats can’t declare it “UNFAIR!” without exposing themselves as hypocrites, yet can’t allow it to happen knowing they’ll be caught defending a president having far more evidence warranting impeachment and punishment than Trump ever had. Once the public learns the Democrats are responsible for America’s slow suicide Republicans should retake the moral High Ground by announcing both sides abide “by the book”, and then take every opportunity to call out the Democrats whenever they engage in subverting America.
McConnell’s stance reminds me of his former GOP colleague John McCain, the RINO who openly vowed to vote against ObamaCare and then later in dramatic fashion voted for it.
But Donald J. Trump – a businessman with no political experience prior to 2015 – is “The Hair” who’s once again correct, this time in his assessment of “The Turtle“.
And, oddly, President Lincoln may have unknowingly predicted Trump as the solution to Washington D.C.’s entrenched “Deep State“:
“…that temple [of Liberty] must fall, unless we, their descendants, supply their places with other pillars, hewn from the solid quarry of sober reason. Passion has helped us; but can do so no more. It will in future be our enemy. Reason, cold, calculating, unimpassioned reason, must furnish all the materials for our future support and defence. Let those materials be moulded into general intelligence, sound morality, and in particular, a reverence for the Constitution and Laws: And, that we improved to the last; that we remained free to the last; that we revered [George Washington's] name to the last; that, during his long sleep, we permitted no hostile foot to pass over or desecrate his resting place; shall be that which to learn the last trump shall awaken our Washington.”
- Abraham Lincoln, “Lyceum Address“, Springfield, Illinois, Jan. 27, 1838
