Vintage Propaganda for Today’s Truths (No. 11)

Propaganda can be very effective when trying to instruct and motivate a population to achieve your goals. Propaganda as art typically caricatures an opponent in a simple, evil manner, exaggerating their features and focusing on a potential danger they posewritten or spoken propaganda casts everything the opponent does in a negative, threatening light. Those working to stop the opponent are portrayed as patriotic, hard-working and heroic, motivated to sacrifice and work until the opponent is defeated.

Propaganda has always been with us and continues today, whether subtly included in Advertising and Marketing, revealed as electronic Censorship by Government and Social Media, or incorporated into memes, text messages, and “News” by the Liberal Press and anyone trying to advance an agenda.

And I thought: What if World War II and Cold War Propaganda posters were reimagined for today’s topics? What would they look like?

Recently pro football player, Hollywood actor, and infamous double-homicide suspect Orenthal James “O. J.” Simpson passed away from cancer at 76. The liberally biased Los Angeles Times published his obituary, which included an interesting error:

“Long before the city woke up on a fall morning in 2017, Trump walked out of Lovelock Correctional Center outside Reno, a free man for the first time in 9 years. … It was a final trick play for a man who’d spent a lifetime running away from trouble.”
- O. J. Simpson Obituary, Los Angeles Times, April 11, 2024

That’s odd: A liberal news outlet associating President Trump with a famous celebrity who was accused of a horrible crime and found not guilty, only to be found guilty of another crime and served prison time, and finally expiring from an insurmountable threat to his life? Probably just an “honest mistake”, or a “Freudian Slip”. These things happen.

But, it did inspire me to create my latest Vintage Propaganda Poster!

I’ve mentioned this in the past but it bears repeating: The first loyalty of a Human Resources Department is to protect the company (who pays their salaries) from liability, and not to the worker (who can be removed or replaced). And there’s always a “correct” way to fire an employee let an employee go no matter what the actual reason is: If an employee can’t be fired because of protected class or anti-discrimination laws the company will just find some legal reason, even if it means setting the employee up to fail. It’s unfortunate but true, and while I’m certainly not saying every company does this I’ve seen it many times during my working career: When they want you out, you’re out. Period.

And a company is especially motivated to want you out if you know too much, reveal too many secrets, expose management’s incompetence, corruption, or collusion, don’t know the right people, change the rules, speak Truth to Power, or simply make the bosses upset. History’s full of fatal examples, including Julius Caesar (who angered Roman Senators), Jesus Christ (viewed as a threat by the Roman Empire and who exposed the Pharisees as hypocrites), two of King Henry VIII’s six wives (for adultery), Leon Trotsky (a Communist who upset his boss Josef Stalin) and President Kennedy (who upset plenty of groups, including perhaps even the CIA).

Liberals Democrats, Never-Trumpers, and even members of the GOP have used almost every means at their disposal to destroy President Trump from the moment he rode down the escalator at Trump Tower to announce his run for president in 2015: Accusations, innuendos, half-truths, biases news, non-cooperation, fabricated evidence, fake stories, amended laws, impeachment, Lawfare, kangaroo courts, excessive fines, and even violating the US Constitution. Fortunately, the only thing Trump’s enemies haven’t tried yet (as far as we know) is a “permanent solution” – and as my poster cleverly and perhaps depressingly points out, it would only take “One Vote” for Progressive Liberal Socialist Democrats to “solve” their “problem”…permanently :-(

“An earlier version of this obituary incorrectly contained a typographical error that used the wrong name when describing Simpson leaving Lovelock Correctional Center. The error has been corrected.”
- Editor’s Note, Los Angeles Times, April 11, 2024

UPDATE: On Friday, April 20, 2024, Congressman Bennie Thompson, a person of color who represents Mississippi and was the Chairman of the January 6th Committee responsible for hunting down, arresting, imprisoning and convicting hundreds of citizens who exercised their First Amendment Rights at our Nation’s Capitol, introduced H.R. 8081: The DISGRACED Former Protectees Act, a bill which removes Secret Service protection for former President Trump and his wife (DISGRACED stands for “Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable”).

It Can Happen Here! Background: My poster was modified from one created by Harry Morse Meyers and published in 1942 by U.S. Government Printing Office, with the original poster showing two US Army artillery men making sure they work destroy the enemy no matter how well their equipment works.
