The Left is Looney Tunes

It's the Looney Left, Warner Brothers style. Back on March 6th, 2021 Charles M. Blow of the NY Times opined on how the Warner Brothers Looney Tunes character, bon vivant, and hopeless romantic Pepe Le Pew signified a “rape culture”.

(Yes, I know it was a while ago, Pepe Le Pew was removed from the remake of the 1990′s movie “Space Jam”, but I’m a big Warner Brothers cartoon fan and didn’t want this post to remain in my Drafts folder, so here it is…but, I digress)

On Twitter Charles wrote:

RW [Right Wing] blogs are mad bc [because] I said Pepe Le Pew added to rape culture. Let’s see.
1. He grabs/kisses a girl/stranger, repeatedly, w/o consent and against her will.
2. She struggles mightily to get away from him, but he won’t release her
3. He locks a door to prevent her from escaping.

Well, Mr. Blow when it comes to Warner Bros. Looney Tunes, this is what the “woke” Liberals seem to have either overlooked or conveniently forgotten:

  • Pepe LePew never got the girl, at least on his own terms. and in most cases came out worse for the trying: Essentially, Pepe was the 1630′s fictional character Don Juan played for comic relief (I’d like to state Pepe could have been based on the legendary French singer and actor Maurice Chevalier, but I don’t want Maurice to be caught up in the Left’s “Cancel Culture”.)

  • Speedy Gonzales, the Mexican mouse, always outsmarted and/or outran his opponents, and in many cases protected his friends and saved their town. And, just because some of the mice were having their siesta during some of the cartoons didn’t mean they were lazy or sleeping the entire day: Perhaps Speedy was only saving them during siesta time.

In my opinion the Liberal Progressive Socialist Democrats, in their rush to “Wokeness“, fail to grasp satirical humor and/or are unwilling to suspend disbelief. Unless, of course, THEY are the ones levying personal attacks under the guise of “satirical humor”.
