1 : a belief in human equality especially with respect to social, political, and economic affairs
2 : a social philosophy advocating the removal of inequalities among people

Of course, my question at the top of this post was intentionally leading: While Egalitarianism isn’t that simple to achieve, we shouldn’t use inequality to “balance” past inequalities.
