When I was a kid I’d always remember when the family was going to the beach but almost never when to do my chores (like cleaning my room): My observant dad referred to it as “Selective memory” (not to be confused with “Selective hearing”, which he also claimed I suffered from…but, I digress), and occasionally resorted to clever visual aids (like placing a garden hoe next to my bedroom door, along with the threat of no ice cream for dessert) rather than relying solely on my conveniently-unreliable power of recollection.
Well, it seems Canadian Broadcast Hall-of-Famer and veteran Fox News Reporter John Roberts might have turned a childhood trait into a lucrative career-extending skill, if his recollection of President Trump’s condemnation of ray cism and Whyte Supreme Assay is any indication*.
Consider:
2019, August 5th:
Fox News John Roberts reports President Trump “strongly condemns” Whyte Supreme Assists:
Remember when John Roberts actually reported that President Trump strongly condemned white supremacists? pic.twitter.com/qj0WgCngGL

2020, September 30:
The wife of Fox News Reporter John Roberts, ABC News Reporter Kyra Phillips, asks President Trump if he denounces White Supreme Assay:
Kyra Phillips: “What about White Supreme Assists, do you denounce them?” President Trump: “Any form of any of that, you have to denounce.”
Here’s video of the actual interview, found on Facebook.
2020, October 1st:
Fox News John Roberts presses President Trump’s Press Secretary to state the President categorically condemns a group he’s categorically condemned numerous times in the past, and she attempts to oblige by repeatedly providing actual evidence of Trump doing just that. (Also note Aaron Rupar’s claiming of Kayleigh McEnany is “dancing around” the question is really his not listening to the evidence.)
Kayleigh McEnany dances around a question from Fox News asking her to categorically condemn white supremacists. Very bizarre. pic.twitter.com/7xoyMHPTxa — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 1, 2020
2020, October 1st:
Fox News John Roberts apparently forgets he’s already received an answer and apparently doesn’t talk to his wife about work, causing him to express frustration at everyone who was paying attention up to this point.
On Fox News, @johnrobertsFox is visibly angry that @PressSec won’t offer a clear denunciation of white supremacy: “Stop deflecting. Stop blaming the media. I’m tired of it. ” pic.twitter.com/GcPcOsAHqJ

It makes me wonder if Reporter Roberts either truly forgot he’s contradicted himself or knows he is but just trying to make headline news. As one who likes to keep his job I’m guessing the latter.
And, just in case you’re wondering if President Trump has ever categorically denounced violent groups, here’s a clip from August 14, 2017:
