Minnesota’s Progressive Governor and failed vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz has stated he won’t seek re-election (and, rightly so, he’s probably the worst governor in modern history).
But don’t break out the champagne just yet: That doesn’t mean his political career is over.
Minnesota’s current Democrat Senator and Trump-denouncer Amy Klobuchar announced she’s running to become Minnesota’s next governor: Should she succeed she can unilaterally appoint Tim Walz to fill her vacated US Senate seat until elections for her seat take place. If Walz is approved in a Special Election he could then become Minnesota’s interim Senator until at least January 3, 2031
So, Tim could still remain in politics, and potentially expand his failures at the State level to the Federal level.

In the meantime, Tim Walz announced as he ended his campaign for governor:
“For Republicans here, I have more energy than I’ve ever had. I am committed to this state more than I’ve ever been. Expect for the next 11 months for me to ride you like you’ve never been ridden to make sure you’re doing your job.”
“Doing your job”? An interesting choice of words, coming from a Democrat who reportedly didn’t do a good job during his two terms as Governor.
