Elon Musk – America’s wealthiest and most successful South African immigrant and arguably the World’s richest person – has only been out of his government job for a few days and already it appears his “bromance” with President Trump is over.
But before delving into my post let’s extend thanks to Elon Musk for his coming out in support of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, his financial contributions to Trump and the Republican Party, his public appearances, and most importantly his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency, which to date has saved taxpayers $180 Billion, and continues to identify and document Government waste, fraud, corruption, and abuse to this day.
Now, for those living in their parents’ basement, sunning on a Delaware beach, or enjoying ice cream, let’s review:
• Musk called Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” a “disgusting abomination”
Surely Musk must know that the US Congress is a world unto itself: It’s the ultimate non-military battlefield. With Congress it isn’t what you want, or what’s efficient, effective, fair, best, or even supported by the majority of The People, but rather it’s what you can get. And even after you think you’ve gotten what you wanted to get you probably haven’t.
• President Trump’s Bill stopped EV tax credits on Musk’s Tesla automobiles.
Surely Musk knew Trump was going to stop the wasteful spending of Democrats on “Green Energy” directed towards their supporters, and if Trump or Congress put favorable treatment to Elon Musk into the bill the Democrats would be in an uproar (while ignoring their own hypocrisy).
• Musk claimed the Epstein Files haven’t been released because they would prove Trump was engaged in inappropriate physical activities.
We already know the FAA Flight Logs show Trump flying at least once on an aircraft registered to Epstein, but not to the notorious island. And, if the Democrats, RINOs, and/or Liberal Media could have destroyed Trump by completely revealing a salacious involvement with the Epstein crowd they surely would have done so sometime during the last 12 years. It would have made concocting the Russian Collusion Hoax unnecessary… unless the damage to those anti-Trump groups by revealing the full extent of the Epstein files would have been worse than to Trump. Musk later deleted his tweet, but the internet never forgets![]()
• Trump proposed cutting off funding to SpaceX, Musk then threatened to decommission his Dragon rockets.
This is nothing but mutually-assured destruction: SpaceX is America’s only dependable, human-rated launch platform, sending satellites, provisions, and crew into space (and, bringing back any garbageBoeing’s CST-100 “Starliner” launch platform, after years of delays, billions in overruns, and culminating stranding two astronauts in space for 286 days, is still hoped by NASA and Boeing to “someday fly again”.
• Musk took back his threat to decommission his Dragon rockets; Trump reportedly doesn’t want to meet with Musk.
I suspect this is just a step or two away from the last scene in this comedic farce: Either they meet and make up or they don’t.
Seems this feud rivals the Montagues and Capulets, and looks like it’s on track to result in the same (albeit metaphorical) ending. Hardly surprising, as it appears we have an unstoppable force confronting an immovable object.
But, what if this is just the ultimate troll?
What if it’s all just political theater orchestrated to…
- push the budget through the Senate, approve it, and then during Reconcilliation add all the stuff America really needs?
- convince low-information Liberals that Musk is the Prodigal Son returned to theor flock, relegitimizing Tesla in their eyes?
- “force” Trump to release the full Epstein files, and show America the Soddom and Gomorrah Epstein created and Trump’s detractors enjoyed?
- allow Trump to put pressure on Boeing to get their space program in order?
- give Trump an excuse to walk away from the Ukraine-Russia War by saying America’s National Security is better served by having access to Russia’s Soyuz launch platform as an interim backup plan instead of supporting an Endless War?
If so, it would be the ultimate troll by two intelligent, calculating masters of trolling.
And it appears this tit-for-tat exercise might be just that, as Musk has deleted his Epstein tweet, Trump has walked back his proposal to cut SpaceX funding, and Musk has thought twice about decommissioning his Dragon rockets. Perhaps Trump will eventually meet or talk to Musk after all, but that has yet to be seen.
