Obama (“Alinsky Jr.”) to the Rescue!

The “Quote of the Day”, from an excellent article by Lee Smith at Tablet:

“For the party of resistance, the George Floyd protests served as a tactical bridging maneuver away from the coronavirus lockdowns, which had already appeared to have run their course [See: Alinsky Rule #6]. Americans would be let out of their cages [See: Alinsky Rule #7] — but only to protest against racism, which was clearly Trump’s fault [See: Alinsky Rule #13], despite the fact that Minnesota has a Democratic governor and two Democratic senators [Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith], Minneapolis’ mayor is a progressive, and the precinct that sent four officers after Floyd for passing a phony $20 bill is in Ilhan Omar’s district.”

Wall of Confusion…

…that’s what the World needs today?

2016-2019: Border Walls are BAD! June 2020: Border Walls are GOOD!
“It’s infuriating to see [US-Mexico] wall construction ramp up, actually be accelerated, when the people who are fighting wall construction are now required to do that from the confines of their living rooms [because of the COVID-19 virus]” Jordahl said.” “It followed astonishing developments in Seattle, where protesters set up the so-called ‘Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone’ or CHAZ, set up barricades and armed checkpoints, and stated that police are not allowed within the zone.”

As for the title of my post, it’s a play on the popular 1970 song by The Temptations titled “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World is Today)“: Check the lyrics out, you may be surprised at how nothing seems to have changed in 50 years.

It’s Time to Get Triggered!

If you’re a classic cartoons fan (as I am), you’ve probably heard that HBO Max and Warner Brothers are producing a new series of Warner Brothers “Looney Tunes” cartoons now airing on HBO.

However, in this new series Elmer Fudd – the slightly obese, absent-minded, slightly uncoordinated hunter (oops, I meant “weight, mentally, and coordination challenged stalker”) occasionally in pursuit of that “wascally wabbit!” – will be doing so without his signature shotgun.

News Fact: When Minutes (Don’t) Count

Total number of broadcast minutes the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts devoted to the Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy theory from Jan. 21, 2017, to Feb. 10, 2019?

  • Two thousand two hundred and two. (2,202)

(or, about 3 minutes a day, every day, for 750 days.)

Total number of broadcast minutes ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts devoted to the  Senate Intelligence Committee announcement on Feb. 12, 2019, that there was no Trump-Russia collusion?

  • Zero (0)

Reminds me of what my Dad told me years ago: When it comes to the Press, their accusations are boldly written on the front page, but their apologies are written in small type in the back of the newspaper.

Note, in fairness, NBC did print an article about the Senate announcement.

A Sunday Reflection on the Rioting.

As a Christian-raised child who attended Sunday Mass for years I’ve remembered just enough about the Bible to be dangerous, and fairly sure Saint Peter won’t call my name.

So, after learning about the rioting, violence, destruction, and death in numerous cities these last 12 days, sparked by the unfortunate death of Minneapolis MN black man George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer – and, it being Sunday – I recalled this lesson from the Bible which may be ironically appropriate.

First, some background: During Apostle Paul’s second missionary journey (described in Acts 17:2-9) he, along with his disciples Silas and Timothy visited the Jewish synagogue in Thessaloníki, Greece on three consecutive Sabbaths.

At (probably) their last meeting with the Thessalonians they gave these words:

June 6th, 1944: Let us not Forget.

1944:Operation Overlord“, the Allied invasion of occupied France at Normandy Beach.

D-Day Invasion

Caption: US Landing, Omaha Beach, D-Day, June 6th 1944.

  • The US Army’s saturation bombing of the beach to “soften up” the defenses failed, with bombs either falling too far inland or unable to breach the reinforced concrete defenses.
  • The US Navy’s saturation artillery designed to destroy the coastal guns fell short into the beach or sea, leaving the German defenses essentially intact.
  • The German guns were set up to fire diagonally across the beaches in a crossing  pattern, which mowed down US Troops like wheat being harvested.
  • The US troop landing craft – Higgins “Eureka” Boats – had ramps which opened from the front, creating an instant kill zone for the Germans (the landing craft used in the Pacific – the LVT-4 “Water Buffalo” – had a stern ramp).
  • Actual US Casualties: Approximately 6,603. Total Allied casualties approx. 10,000.

Let’s not forget these “kids” who fought for not just for the United States but to free the World from those seeking to destroy Liberty and Freedom in their quest for world domination: Especially those who gave their “last full measure of devotion” during that day.
