Fact: Liberty is Free of the Virus.

Interesting fact of the day:

Liberty University, the conservative religious school of higher education founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell and Elmer L. Towns, has…

110,000 total students enrolled
62,500 who live on campus

…and, during the COVID-19 crisis:

8,000 students remained in the area
1,500 lived on campus during the pandemic
0 people infected with the virus on campus

That’s right: 1,500 students, and an unknown number of support staff, teachers, aides, etc. and not one case of COVID-19 on campus. Read how they did it by clicking here.

And, they plan to fully open for the Fall Semester of 2020.

Another interesting fact:

Any school which directly accepts any federal funding must obey all federal laws, regulation, guidelines and educational curricula. Liberty University, along with schools like Hillsdale College and Grove City College, doesn’t receive any direct Federal Funds, and thus can provide higher level learning within a Christian environment.

Statistically, Racial Violence is Wrong.

A couple of days ago I read a statistic published in response to the massive, uncontrolled, and senseless destruction, looting, and death occurring as a result of the unfortunate death in Minneapolis, MN of alleged criminal and black man George Floyd at the hands of white police officers:

“In the U.S., African Americans are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police than white people.” (Source)

Back in 1906 Mark Twain wrote “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

The 2014 Video You Should Watch Right Now.

Donald Trump Jr. retweeted this 2014 video of Milwaukee’s since-retired Police Chief Edward Flynn at a press conference answering why he was being “disrespectful” to “some people” by talking on his cell phone instead of being more “attentive” to them as they discussed the fatal shooting of Dontre Hamilton – a Black man – in Red Arrow Park by a White police officer.

Chief Flynn, after admitting he was on his cellphone, provided this brutally honest and emotional response to the reporters:

“They all know about the last three [Black] people killed by the Milwaukee Police Department over the course of the last several years, there’s not one of them who can name one of the last three homicide victims we’ve had in this city.”

Did Trump Really Say This? REALLY?

“Any faction in America that would put a gun to the head of 310 million people and say ‘If you don’t do it our way, we will blow your dreams away, we will blow a hole in the American economy’, that is un-American. That is not how we do business, and we refuse to bow down to those tactics.”

Sounds like President Trump is taking a strong stand against a small, vocal minority who want to use threats, violence, destruction, and even death to “get their way”.

But, I guarantee you not one of the progressive liberal media, politicians, Hollywood actors, talk show hosts, sports figures, or other “socially woke” person will criticize this remark…

…because it was actually spoken on July 28th, 2011 by former Obama White House Special Advisor for Green Jobs Van Jones at the Liberal “Rebuild the Dream” rally in Washington DC, in response to the peaceful, lawful, and respectful TEA Party demonstrations during 2010-2012.

How quickly the Left forgets, and provides us with another fine example of “The Hypocrisy of the Liberal“.

I’m a Random Ramblin’ Man!

The weather’s nice, so let’s ramble on down the road in our 1957 Rambler!

I read that the NFL Miami Dolphins are turning Hard Rock Stadium into an outdoor drive-in theater, where cars can park on the playing field to watch movies and other events. Seems to me they’re only one small step away from turning a field of parked cars into one of my guilty pleasures: Demolition derby!

Soon-to-open amusement parks in Japan have issued guidelines asking visitors not to scream on rides or get too close to park mascots. (Personally, I’ve never screamed on rides: Between being too petrified, keeping lunch down, listening to my Number 2 turn to Number 1, and the occasional blackout I’ve been much too busy….but, I digress!)

Did you know that in the New York City area about 75% of the deaths from SARS-CoV-2 (or, COVID-19) virus were in patients over 65 years old? And, that 60% were male? It’s undeniably tragic, and painful for relatives and friends of the victims. That said, could the next big tragedy be the destruction of livelihoods of the still-living which have or will be destroyed if the Minneapolis / St. Paul riots spread throughout the United States?

When it comes to Social Media sites like this one and this one and this one and this one and maybe even this one – who allegedly censor speech they don’t agree with or in some cases ban them outright despite enjoying legal protection from liability lawsuits – it seems that we finally have an answer to that famous 2000-year-old observation by the Roman poet Juvenal:
- “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?” (“Who watches the watchers?”)

The answer? “Praesidis Generalis Attorney et custodiet ipsos custodes erit.” (“Attorney General and the President will watch the watchers.”) Read more here.

Back in 1966 two Liberal Sociologists – Frances Fox Piven and Richard A. Cloward – proposed a solution to poverty in the United States: Force the Federal Government to provide guaranteed basic income for all by organizing mobs of unemployed in major cities, overwhelming welfare offices, and providing advocates to threaten legal action if their demands aren’t met. Perhaps a better solution might be to create a “Full Employment” Economy where everyone who wants to work can work. And, to review a solution proposed over 2000 years ago to the Thessalonians.
