The Red Sox played the Detroit Tigers last Sunday during a perfect day for early afternoon baseball, and won 6-3 to take the 3-game series.
My personal highlights of the game were Red Sox outfielder Adam Duvall’s 3-run moonshot over the Green Monster in the 5th inning that’s probably still looking for a place to land (and which looked a lot longer than its’ announced distance of 403 feet). And celebrating the final game at Fenway Park for Detroit’s Third Baseman and Designated Hitter Miguel Cabrera after a 21 year career. His first plate appearance at Fenway was June 27, 2003, and the Fenway Faithful gave him a heartfelt standing ovation before his last at bat. Here’s a big tip of the ‘ol Red Sox Cap to you, Miggy, along with best wishes to you and Yours.
It’s resting place was perfectly understandable: The day was hot and uncomfortable, seating space – especially in first row Field Box seats – is very tight, and laying the expensive prosthetic down flat under the seats exposes it to spilled drinks, peanut shells, trash, and other people’s feet. As a former Aerospace Engineer I can appreciate the mechanical design, and as one whose artistic skills are limited to illegibly scribbling my signature my compliments to whoever decorated the pylon. |
To the owner of the appliance, thanks for the “leg up”, and I hope you enjoyed the game!
Thanks for Reading! (and, Go Sox!)
