Mr. Desmond Hatchett, Knoxville TN	Rapper Shawty Lo, Atlanta GA

May 16, 2012: Desmond Hatchett fathers 30 children by 11 different mothers, then asks the state to help him pay child support as he only works a minimum wage job. Also, has a criminal rap sheet 14 pages long.	January 3, 2013: Rapper Shawty Lo, along with his 11 children by 10 different mothers, to star in a reality-based television show on NBC Universal’s “Oxygen” channel titled “All my Babies Mamas“, set to air “in the spring“. He responded to critics by saying “I didn’t ask for it. It just happened.” (How, exactly, does it “just” happen? By sharing a milkshake at the malt shop? An infectious cough? Bribery or extortion?) To his credit, he states he is providing for his family, despite claiming it’s not his fault.

I’ll let you make the editorial comments on this one: Frankly, I’m not in the mood because I’ve gotten a headache just reading this.

Update: The Oxygen Channel announced on Jan. 15th they’ve pulled out of the venture. Perhaps Mr. Lo should have considered doing that earlier.

A Joke about the Homeless

President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Mitt Romney are walking down the street in Washington, D.C. when they come upon a homeless person with a sign reading “NEED WORK!”.

Mitt Romney gave the person his business card and said “Stop by my office and we’ll see about getting you a job“. He then reached into his pocket and gave the person $30 saying “Get yourself a good meal and a nice haircut, and may God bless you”.

Hillary was impressed, so when they came upon another homeless person a few blocks away she decided to help. She gave the person directions to the nearest welfare office, then reached into Mitt Romney’s pocket and took out $30. She kept $20 for her administrative fee and taxes and gave the person $10 saying “I still have $73,000 of campaign debt from my 2008 Presidential run – could you please visit my website and consider making a contribution? Thank you.”

Barack was impressed, so when the came upon still another homeless person a few more blocks away he gave the person nothing, saying “Have hope, change is coming as I bring the country forward by making the rich pay their fair share“.

The homeless person turned to Barack and replied “I really wish you wouldn’t, the last thing I need is a lot more competition.”

So Wrong…a Crime of Emission!

In the 1964 Pink Panther® movie “A Shot in the Dark“, Inspector Clouseau opens his car door only to fall into a fountain. When his beautiful maid (and love interest) Maria warns him to dry off or risk pneumonia, Clouseau replies “Yes, I probably will. But it’s all part of life’s rich pageant, you know?“*

Well, in another incredible example of “life’s rich pageant”*, Mr. William Marotta of Topeka, Kansas is being sued for child support by The Kansas Department of Children and Families after donating his “seed” in the Biblical manner to a lesbian couple who wanted their own baby.

According to according the article by reporter Aly Van Dyke in the Topeka Capital-Journal of Kansas, Mr. Marotta “…didn’t want to be involved in the parenting…” and “…signed [a] contract waiving his parenting responsibilities” for the baby girl born on December 7th, 2009.

Why is he being sued? When Angela Bauer, the breadwinner of the couple, could no longer work due to illness her partner and the child’s mom, Jennifer Schreiner, applied to Medicaid for the child’s health insurance – which alerted the State.

And that’s not all: Seems these details only begin to describe this latest (and not the last) example of “life’s rich pageant”, which also involves Craigslist, other children, an apparently-uncooperative doctor, and more: Be sure to read the full article for even more “pageantry”!

It’s Just “Plane” Stupid…

…what a news outlet might do to get you to click on a link.

The homepage of Verizon’s website showed this seemingly alarming image of a plane crash, with an equally alarming tease (click to enlarge):

Holy Toledo! We’ve read about teen bullies, teens in gangs, teens with knives, teens with guns, and now… teens flying Boeing 747′s into the ground?!? I thought we’d stopped that sort of stuff after 9/11!

Having worked in the Aerospace Industry my curiosity was piqued, so I clicked through to reveal the Associated Press article:

“Deadly Ala. plane crash may have been teen joyride”
The Associated Press, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 12:07 PM EST

…to discover “…the Piper PA 30 crashed less than a mile from the Walker County Airport in Jasper [Alabama].” Here’s a photo of your typical Piper PA 30 “Twin Comanche” aircraft, with a human just behind it to provide a sense of it’s massive size (click to enlarge):

Obviously, the teen involved didn’t have a license to fly. As for Verizon, it appears they were simply exercising a touch of “Journalistic License“.
