hamilliation /hă-mĭl″ē-ā′shən/ (noun) – intentionally destroying one’s own social status, prestige, or reputation by committing an unacceptable act in an attempt to make one socially or culturally relevant. |
Let’s use this new word in some sentences!
|
“When a washed-up, irrelevant, elderly, Liberal Hollywood actor publishes an image on social media wishing the President of the United States dead they’re bound to suffer a bit of hamilliation at the hands of rational, non-violent, viewers.” “Imagine how hamilliated that washed-up actor was after posting something that hateful!” “Could he have found a better way to hamilliate himself?” |

Say, that was easy! We’ve learned a new word!
And, as long as I’m on the subject of actors…
Did you know? In Ancient Rome, while people – especially the rich & powerful of Rome – appreciated Art, Artists, Music, and the Theater, they detested Actors and Actresses who were viewed as being morally unclean and a curse and degradation to society, with a social status slightly better than prostitutes. Actors were typically slaves (who under Roman Law did not have rights ), and Roman Emperors urged the upper class not to associate with them and forbade pagan priests from attending performances to avoid giving actors any credibility or increased social status. This disdain could have been caused by actors using satire and parody to complain about Rome’s leaders and the problems they caused, and may have contributed to children of actors becoming actors themselves.
Sound familiar? In 1930′s Hollywood actors were signed to long term, exclusive contracts with a major studio and were worked hard, with most receiving small wages. Today, Liberals in Hollywood like to complain about Conservatives (and President Trump), probably a result of Communist infiltration during the 1930′s and 1940′s, and many actors have had their children become actors.
Interesting Fact: The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) prohibits members from using names that are already taken by other members to avoid confusion and to ensure any royalties are sent to the proper person.
