Why Houston Should Lose the World Series.

The Houston Astros beat the Red Sox to win the ALCS and end what was a frustrating, entertaining, and surprising season by the Boston Red Sox.

Personally speaking, the Houston Astros must lose the World Series, if only to assuage those Red Sox fans who felt being so close to winning a Championship the Sox were destined to go all…the…way.

Just as Boston’s team did in 2004 (the Greatest Comeback of All Time in Professional Sports), 2007 (arguably the best Boston team ever to take the field), 2013 (where they won through sheer luck), and 2018 (where the Red Sox were never out of first place in the American League East).

But perhaps for other reasons, most of which having nothing to do with “America’s Pastime” and more with Karma:

Under pressure from the Woke Left, MLB moved the 2021 All Star game from mostly-minority Atlanta, Georgia to predominantly-White Denver, Colorado, denying Atlanta an estimated $100 million in financial benefit. It would be Karma for the World Championship to arrive in that city.

In addition, Atlanta’s professional baseball team name – “Braves” – is rich in both symbolism and history:

Winning the World Series might indirectly elevate Native Americans, most of which I suspect have no problem with Atlanta’s choice of mascot (and probably didn’t have any problem with Cleveland’s former name and mascot…as most didn’t with Washington naming their football team the Redskins).

It would give a chance for the team and their fans to celebrate what will most likely be their last World Championship before the Woke Left forces them to change their name (note the Braves already got rid of their original mascot – Chief Nok-a-Homa – in 1985, replacing him with Homer the Brave and then replacing Homer with a fuzzy, horn-eared, androgynous creature named  Blooper in 2018, in addition to eliminating their original “Screaming Indian” logo in 1989).

The Atlanta Braves were formerly the Milwaukee Braves (from 1953 1964) but were originally the Boston Braves (from 1883 to 1952): How fitting it would be for them to win, a victory tied indirectly to Boston!

The last time the Braves won the Series was 1995: It’s only “equitable” and “fair” they should win this year, with the Astros having already won in 2017.

As Michael T. McGreevy, owner of The Third Base Saloon in Boston near the Huntington Avenue Playing Grounds (former home to the Boston Americans before moving to Fenway Park in 1912 and becoming the Boston Red Sox) might say…

“Atlanta wants these games.”

I agree.

Postscript: Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY, in an opinion piece published October 27th, 2021, writes why he won’t use the word “Braves” when talking about the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Perhaps the Braves should win two World Series trophies.
