Quote of the Day: War Donations

“У рату политичари дају муницију, богати дају храну, а сиромашни својој деци… Када се рат заврши политичари добијају назад преосталу муницију, богати узгајају више хране, а сиромашни траже гробове за своју децу.”
Стара српска изрека

“In war the politicians give the ammunition, the rich give the food, and the poor give their children…When war is over the politicians get back the leftover ammunition, the rich grow more food and the poor search for graves for their children.”

Let’s Sing Along! “Inflation’s Here To Stay”

In a recent interview with Yahoo! Finance Joe Biden’s U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, formerly the Mayor of Boston, said:

“Aside from inflation, we have a really strong economy.”

Which reminded me of that classic Abraham Lincoln joke:

“Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?”

On the same day Marty Walsh told MSNBC:

“I think for the short term inflation we’re here to see it stay.”

Which got me to thinking…let’s all sing a song about Inflation!

Quote of the Day: The Foreign Leader Speaks!

Map of Starvania “Moronica must expand! We must extend our neighbors a helping hand! We will extend them two helping hands, and help ourselves to our neighbors!
- Moe Hailstone, Self-appointed Leader of Moronica

Added bonuses!
Curley, Moe, and Larry are dressed up as the three Fascist leaders of the time who wanted to create a New World Order; the meaning of “Bedlock” is unknown; listen for the word “eithermore” in the video; “Bologna Watch Time” refers to “Bulova Watch Time“; Moe’s German is gibberish, and later he imitates the famous vampire Bella Lugosi.

Dictator Moe Hailstone:
(to Propaganda Minister Larry Pebble while pointing to map):
“You I shall give [the country of] Mickey Finlen!

Propaganda Minister Larry Pebble:
“If I take Mickey Finlen I’d better be Russian!”

Field Marshall Curly Gallstone:
“Then quit Stalin!”

Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: The first time as tragedy, the second as farce.”
- Karl Marx, Father of modern Communism, “The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte“, 1851

1940: Let's Take Mickey Finlen!1940: Let’s Take Mickey Finlen! 2022: Let's Take Moldova & the Ukraine!2022: Let’s Take the Ukraine!
One is satirical comedy, the other tragic farce.

FYI: The Three Stooges short You Natzy Spy! was the first film to make fun of Germany’s 1930′s notorious dictator, and could apply to any leader who rules a country with an iron fist or a senile brain…including some of today’s leaders.

Memeory Time: Biden Ponders His Accomplishments

Tomorrow night Joe Biden will deliver his State of the Union Address in front of a joint session of Congress: Basically, a summary of his accomplishments during the past year, challenges facing America, and his plans and goals for the next year.

In short, he’s giving his own Performance Review…so he’d better be prepared.

Yep…he’s ready, at least when it comes to people being stupid:

“…the American people are stupid and will support anything that sounds good.”
- Senator Joe Biden, speaking to Stephen Silbiger, Chief Legislative Aide to Congressman Stephen J. Solarz of Brooklyn, in 1982

“Clap for that, you stupid bastards.”
- Vice President Biden, to the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing stationed in Abu Dhabi, in 2016

“If we were all going out and having lunch together and I said, ‘Let’s ask whoever’s in the next table, no matter what restaurant we’re in, have them explain the supply chain to us.’ Do you think they’d understand what we’re talking about?
- President Joe Biden, November 6, 2021

“What a stupid son of a b*tch.”
- President Joe Biden, describing Fox White House Correspondent Peter Doocy, January 24, 2022

It’s The War of the Words!

The other day I was wondering why there were few – if any – major armed conflicts in the world under President Donald J. Trump compared to former president Obama or now current president Biden.

And then I thought of former President Ronald Reagan’s 1983 speech on National Security, where he said “We maintain the peace through our strength; weakness only invites aggression.

A concept Reagan may have remembered from Ancient Roman History:

“[Ancient Rome's Emperor Hadrian's] agenda was clear: peace through strength, or failing that, peace through threat.”
Following Hadrian: A Second-Century Journey Through the Roman Empire” – by Elizabeth Speller, 2003

…which got me to thinking about how well Obama, Trump, and Biden believe in “peace through strength”.

Putin’s Ukraine as Farce

“Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.”

― Karl Marx, father of modern Communism, “The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte“, written 1852

1938: Adolf Hitler Annexes the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia

2022: Vladimir Putin’s Army Enters the Ukraine

“the second as farce”

When Germany annexed Czechoslovakia’s Sudetenland, entered Austria, and finally invaded Poland to start World War II they justified it in part by claiming Germany needed Lebensraum: “living space”.

Or, in as Russia’s Vladimir Putin might say, жилая площадь
